In 1930, the Philadelphia Athletics finished the regular season with 102 wins and claimed their second of three consecutive AL Pennants. With three future HOFers (Mickey Cochrane, Jimmie Foxx, and Al Simmons), and the 1930 Batting Title and Triple Crown winners on the roster (Simmons and Lefty Grove, respectively), they went on to beat the St. Louis Cardinals in six World Series games. It would be their final World Championship in Philadelphia, with their next one not coming until 42 years later in Oakland. Offered here is an extremely rare World Championship commemorative 14K gold pin, which was subsequently turned into a ring. Cast on its rounded face is a silver Athletics elephant logo on top of crossing silver bats and an old miner’s cut real diamond mounted in the center. Lightly cast baseball stitches cross the front of the ring’s face to make it look like a baseball. On top is cast “WORLD CHAMPIONS” and below that is cast “ATHLETICS” which appears in smaller letters than the “1930” below that. The ring is in amazing shape for an 80 year old piece, as it shows light wear and is in overall EX condition. Housed in a vintage brown box.
