In 1967, the Boston Red Sox cleared the first hurdle in “The Impossible Dream” by beating the Tigers and Twins by one game each en route to their first AL Pennant since 1946. Entering the ’67 season, the possibility of success had seemed so remote to BoSox fans because their team hadn’t yet sported a winning record during the 1960s. But with the help of Triple Crown winner Carl Yastrzemski, Boston snuck into the World Series that year with hopes of breaking a 39 year championship drought. Though the curse wouldn’t be lifted for another 38 years, many credit the improbable ’67 run with creating a fan frenzy that would lead to the modern incarnation of the enthusiastic Red Sox Nation. Offered here is catcher Mike Ryan’s 1967 AL Championship ring. The size 10 10K gold ring displays a casting of the Boston “B” on the top, with two inlaid red rubies. The top of this panel reads “BOSTON RED SOX” while the bottom says “AL CHAMPIONS”. The left side panel depicts a casting of the year “1967” above the socks of the Red Sox logo, which sit on top of a baseball. The top of the right side panel has an engraving of the player name “RYAN” above a casting of the Boston hat, crossed bats, and a baseball glove. The inside of the ring has a manufacturer’s engraving that says “BALFOUR 10K”. The ring shows light wear and is in overall EX-MT condition. Comes in a black box with leather top.
