New York’s Subway Series in 2000 marked the Mets’ first appearance in the Fall Classic since 1986. Despite half a city full of believers, they were ultimately done in by the cross-town rival Yankees, who cruised to a three-peat and their fourth World Championship in five years. Offered here is a size 11-1/4 to 11-1/2, 10K Gold-Plated Mets NL Championship ring, which weighs 33 grams and belonged to Mets’ staffer Robert Ginter. On the top of this large ring is a highly polished rectangular black onyx stone, inside which is set the “NY” Mets logo with 33 diamonds inside it. At the four corners of this panel are four inlaid diamonds, and a casting of the words “2000 NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONS” around the perimeter. On the left side panel is the name “GINTER”, which sits above a casting of the New York City skyline, the words “AMAZIN’ AGAIN” and “METS”. On the bottom of this panel is the word “STAFF”. On the right side panel is a casting of the National League logo, which is flanked by the four years in which the Mets have won NL Pennants: “2000”, “1986”, “1973”, and “1969”. On the bottom is the inscription “Subway Series” and an image of two subways. Inside the ring is a manufacturer’s stamp that reads “JOSTENS” and a script engraving that reads “Robert Ginter”. Ring is in overall NRMT condition and comes in a black velour box.
