After an 86 year World Series drought, the 2007 Boston Red Sox fed their hungry fans a second World Championship in just four years. It was an impressive campaign, which saw the Sox finish with the best record in Major League Baseball and win the AL East after holding the division lead without interruption for the final five and a half months of the season. The signing of star Japanese pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka at the beginning of the season punctuated an otherwise stellar group of pitchers, which also included likely HOFer Curt Schilling and a shutdown second year closer in Jonathon Papelbon. But it was the offensive onslaught led by “Big Papi” and Manny Ramirez that really excited BoSox fans all year long. In the end, Boston’s dominance was on full display during its four game World Series sweep of the Colorado Rockies in which the Sox nearly tripled the run production of their National League foes. Offered here is a team size World Series Championship replica trophy in MINT condition. This amazing piece measures 24-1/2” high at its peak, with its chrome base measuring 10-1/2” across and bearing the engraving “2007 BOSTON RED SOX WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS”, next to which is the MLB logo. Above that is a smaller 14K yellow gold base that says “PRESENTED BY THE COMMISSIONER OF BASEBALL”. Above that is a two-tone chrome baseball with stitching in 14K yellow gold. The baseball is surrounded by 30 flags, one for each MLB team, with chrome poles and gold flags.
