In a rematch of the 1978 NBA Finals, the Seattle SuperSonics downed the Washington Bullets in five games to capture their first and only NBA Title in 1979. After handling both the Lakers and the Suns in the first two rounds of the playoffs, Dennis Johnson took over during the Championship series, where his clutch play won him MVP honors. The shooting guard turned point guard would later help the Boston Celtics to two more World Championships and be selected to five All-Star teams during his career. When his playing days were over, the future HOFer spent seven years as a coach until his tragic death from a heart attack in 2007. This size 10-3/4, 14K gold ring was presented to him in commemoration of his first World Championship with the SuperSonics in 1979, and was obtained directly from Johnson’s family. The top panel reads “NBA WORLD CHAMPIONS” around a gold basketball with a large inlaid diamond in the middle. The left panel reads “1979” around a casting of the NBA logo, while the right panel has the player name “JOHNSON” engraved above a green and gold Seattle SuperSonics logo. The inside of the ring is stamped by manufacturer “BALFOUR 14K”. The ring shows very light wear and is in overall EX-NRMT condition. Comes in a black velour box.
