Yogi Berra was a player-coach for the NY Mets, playing in just four games. His last at-bat came on May 9, 1965 just three days shy of his 40th birthday. Berra stayed with the Mets as a coach for the next eight seasons, including their 1969 World Championship season. He then became the team's manager in 1972, following the sudden death of manager Gil Hodges. On the left front tail of the road flannel jersey is the “Wilson” manufacturer’s tag with wash instructions and jersey size “42”. Inside the rear collar is a grey strip tag with “8-42-70 Set 2” done in blue chain stitch indicating the coach’s number, jersey size, year and set, respectively. Across the front is “NEW YORK” done in blue felt on orange tackle twill. The coach’s number “8” appears on both the front and back done in blue on orange tackle twill. On the left sleeve is the team embroidered disc patch. Yogi has added his signature to the inner collar in blue marker which has faded and rates a 5-6. The jersey shows wear and appears to have no alterations of any kind. It is accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
