Thurman Munson jet fuel gas receipt from the year that he died dated “032779”. This is the very carbon copy from “Sun Aviation/Vero Beach FL” that Munson kept when he fueled up the plane he was flying that day. Munson filed this receipt, which clearly displays his carbon-signature, among his personal items where it remained until his widow, Diana Munson, sold it to our consignor. Less than six months from the date of the transaction recorded on this receipt, Munson would die in a plane crash. This document is one of only a handful of objects connecting the Yankee great to his life’s passion, aviation and flying, a passion that would claim his life at the tender age of only 32. It will display wonderfully. It is accompanied by a LOA from Diana Munson.
