This brass belt buckle weighs 32 grams and measures approximately 1-3/4” x 1-5/8”. The buckle itself features an ornate design of laurelled leaves and scrollwork. The face of the buckle features the player’s initials “A” and “S” in 14k white gold in Japanese Kanji-style lettering. The face also features the Washington Senators “Capital” logo with two bats and a baseball and “SENATORS” enameled in blue. There is an additional red, white and blue enameled baseball and two bats symbol which may have been the logo for the All-Stars’ 1934 Tour of Japan. The Senators logo was possibly added later as Simmons did not join Washington until the 1937 season. The buckle is in NRMT condition an makes an excellent display piece. Please note that a correction and/or update has been made to this lot and the printed catalog differs from what is online.
