This medal weighs 202 grams and measures 3” across with a thickness of approximately ?”. The medal is made of a combination of nickel and silver. They were awarded to athletes, judges and officials at the 1980 Olympic Games in Lake Placid, New York as keepsakes for the participants in the games. The front of the medal shows a stylized collage of athletes in relief representing nine of the winter sports. The verso of the medal shows the Olympic oath in 4 concentric circles along with the Lake Placid emblem in its center. The edge of the medal is stamped “© IOC 1978 MACO”. The medal is in MINT condition overall. It comes with the original light blue box and makes an excellent display piece.
