The 1956 World Series featured a matchup between the New York Yankees and the Brooklyn Dodgers, a rematch of the previous year’s Fall Classic. The Yankees represented the AL in the World Series after winning 97 regular season games, finishing with a comfortable nine-game lead over the Cleveland Indians thanks largely in part to Mickey Mantle’s AL MVP, Triple Crown-winning season. The Dodgers won the National League pennant, edging out the Milwaukee Braves by just a single victory. The ‘56 Series was a competitive, back-and-forth matchup that saw the Dodgers win the first two games of the Series at Ebbetts Field, followed by the Yankees winning three consecutive games at Yankee Stadium. The Series is most remembered for Don Larsen’s perfect game in Game 5. Game 6 saw the Yankees losing a 1-0 game when the Dodgers finally broke up Bob Turley’s shutout performance in the 10th inning. In the decisive Game 7, the Yankees bats erupted. The Bombers tallied 9 runs in a shutout victory to clinch the franchise’s 17th World Series title. This size 12, 14k gold players ring weighs 37 grams. The top panel reads “NEW YORK YANKEES WORLD CHAMPIONS” surrounding a .30-carat round-cut diamond in the center of a baseball diamond with laurelled leaves in the background of the face. The original diamond was replaced. The left and ring panels are identical, both featuring a casted image of the Yankees “top hat” logo below “1956” amidst a background of laurelled leaves. The inside of the ring is stamped “LGB 14K” and engraved “W.G. Coleman” in script. The ring itself is in NRMT condition with light wear.
