“Catfish” Hunter was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1987. At the time, a player was allowed to choose which team's cap would be memorialized on his Hall of Fame Plaque. Before and after his induction, Hunter spoke highly of his experiences with both the Athletics and Yankees and his appreciation for both team owners, Charlie Finley and George Steinbrenner. For this reason, he refused to choose a team and thus the plaque depicts him with no insignia on the cap. Hunter was a five-time World Champion, a Cy Young Award winner and threw a perfect game in 1968. On the left front tail of this yellow vest is the “McAULIFFE” manufacturer’s tag. Below are the year “71” and size “46” labels. On the left chest is the team “A’s” logo. Player number “27” appears on both the front and back. All these numbers and letters are done in green on white tackle twill. Player nickname “CATFISH” appears on back in green tackle twill with quotes. The jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion, shows excellent use. Accompanied by an additional LOA with a grade of 10. Tremendous, all original condition.
