The 1935 Tigers “brown bat” is considered the first H&B Championship Bat of the highly prized Brown/Black Bat series. Morrow’s letter (on official, early H&B stationery) provides concrete production information on this important 1935 issue. For decades, collectors have speculated actual production numbers for these historic bats. The offered letter gives keen insight into their extremely limited distribution (NOT issued to every player, as were the black-finished bats in subsequent years). Morrow’s duties for H&B went far beyond creating a commemorative tradition for Championship baseball clubs. He is the legendary H&B employee that served as player/company liaison during baseball’s golden age, and whose “side-writing” is found along the barrels of the game’s most treasured & valuable game-used bats. Shows signs of being folded with staple rust on back, EX overall.
