Nicknamed “Dummy”, William Hoy was the reason umpires adopted hand signals to go along with their vocal calls. He was a deaf-mute who accumulated over 2,000 hits. Boldly signed and inscribed response by famed 19th century baseball player Hoy made on a typed 1949 autograph request. Includes hand addressed and labeled return envelope from Hoy. Signature and inscription are done in blue ink rating an 8-9. EX overall, accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
