Orel capped his historic 1988 season in the World Series by pitching a shutout in Game 2 and allowing two runs in a complete game in the clinching victory in Game 5, winning the World Series MVP Award. He also was perfect at the plate in Game 2 going 3-3 with an RBI and run scored. Orel is the only player to receive the Cy Young award, the Championship Series MVP award, and the World Series MVP award in the same season. He later received both The Sporting News Pitcher of the Year and Sports Illustrated magazine's Sportsman of the Year award for his accomplishments in 1988. This jersey comes to us directly from Orel Hershiser. Inside the rear collar is the “Rawlings” manufacturer’s tag with wash instructions and jersey size “44”. Attached is a flag tag with “SET 2 1988”. Across the front is “Dodgers” in blue tackle twill. Player number “55” appears on front in red tackle twill and on back in blue on white twill. Player name “HERSHISER” appears across the back in blue on white tackle twill. On the right sleeve is the official “1988 World Series” embroidered patch. The jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion, shows appropriate use. Accompanied by a LOA from Orel Hershiser.
