In 1995, after 12 seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Orel Hershiser signed as a free agent with the Cleveland Indians. Cleveland won a league-best 100 regular season games that season, 16 of which were games in which Hershiser started. Orel’s 16-6 record was the best on the team and the Indians would cruise into the postseason with a 30-game lead in the AL Central. Cleveland made quick work of the Boston Red Sox in the AL Division Series, sweeping the series in three games including a gem of a game by Hershiser in which he struck out seven and allowed only three hits in 7-? innings. Hershiser continued his postseason dominance in the ALCS against the Seattle Mariners; he won two games in the series, posting an outstanding 1.29 ERA and averaging 9.6 strikeouts per nine innings. His performance earned him MVP honors for the ALCS and he is the only player to win the LCS Most Valuable Player Award in both leagues. This is the trophy was presented to Orel Hershiser after he was selected as the MVP of the 1995 ALCS. This acrylic trophy weighs 22.5 lbs, stands 20” tall with a base measuring 9” x 9”. The transparent trophy reads “CHEVROLET MOST VALUABLE PLAYER - 1995 AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES” and features a floating metallic ALCS logo cast inside the trophy. The base features a plaque that reads “OREL HERSHISER” with the official MLB logo in relief adjacent to the left and right. An OAL Budig baseball with some dirt on it is mounted at the top. The trophy is in NRMT condition and is accompanied by a LOA from Orel Hershiser.
