The Michigan State Spartans defeated the UCLA Bruins 28-20 in the 1954 Rose Bowl on January 1, 1954 which was the 40th Rose Bowl game, and the first year Michigan State was counted in the Big Ten Conference, as well as the first “colorcast” (televised in color). Award measures 2" x 1-3/8" and weighs 30 grams. It is engraved “19 ROSE BOWL 54” atop, and “M.S.C.” at bottom. The front engraving surrounds a gold Rose. The buckle fixture in back is engraved “PAT APPL’D FOR”. The back of the buckle is engraved “VISALIA STOCK S.F. CAL SADDLE” in a circle, and then “STERLING 1/10 - 14 K” below the circle. Belt buckle is in VG condition overall. Please note that a correction and/or update has been made to this lot and the printed catalog differs from what is online.
