This commemorative three-piece tea set consists of a teapot, creamer, and sugar bowl all made of silver-plated copper. The set was presented to Vern Mikkelsen after he participated in the NBA Old Timers game as part of the festivities for the 1964 NBA All-Star Game. The teapot stands 7-1/2” tall and is engraved “NBA EAST-WEST ALL STAR GAME OLD TIMERS — JANUARY 14, 1964 — BOSTON GARDEN”. Vertical seams are present in the teapot, it will not hold liquid. The bottom of the teapot is stamped “5TH AVE SILVER CO. SILVER ON COPPER”. The creamer and sugar bowl are both the same size, the sugar bowl has a lid and two handles, one of which has been repaired. The nearly 50-year-old tea set is in EX condition with some tarnish and pitting. The items are accompanied by a LOA from Vern Mikkelsen.

This lot is part of the personal collection of MPLS Laker great and Hall of Famer Vern Mikkelsen. Part two (and the majority of the highlights) of the Mikkelsen collection will be featured in our Seventh Annual Basketball Hall of Fame Induction Auction this September. Previews of these and many other great pieces of basketball history can be seen in the back pages of our current May 30th catalog. View the spread in our eCatalog
