Benched early in his college career because his coach didn't like his revolutionary, razzle-dazzle style, Hall of Famer Bob Cousy went on to help build the Boston Celtics of the 1950s and 1960s into basketball's most enduring dynasty. Cousy was the heart and soul of a team of stars that featured Bill Russell, Tommy Heinsohn, KC Jones, Bill Sharman and Satch Sanders. He played in 13 straight NBA All-Star Games and earned six NBA championship rings. He led the league in assists eight consecutive seasons and consistently ranked near the top in scoring and free-throw percentage. The trophy stands approximately 20 inches tall, and weighs 12 pounds. It was presented to Bob Cousy in 1971 as the fifth recipient of the Victor Award for basketball. The Victor Award is presented by the National Academy of Sports Editors to the country's most outstanding professional and amateur athletes and coaches. The marble-based trophy features a 16-inch brass-plated figure with his right arm raised clenching laurelled leaves. The base of the trophy features a brass plate engraved with “BOB COUSY - BASKETBALL - FIFTH ANNUAL VICTOR AWARD”. The trophy is in EX condition and is accompanied by a LOA from Bob Cousy. This item will require additional shipping and handling charges due to its size, weight and fragility.
