The 1967–68 ABA season was the first season for the American Basketball Association. The ABA introduced a red, white and blue basketball and used a 30 second shot clock as opposed to the NBA's 24 second shot clock. The ABA also used the three-point shot. There were 11 teams playing in the first season of the league, with each team playing a 78-game schedule. Trooper Washington played for the Pipers for three seasons. Inside the rear collar is the “Wilson” manufacturer’s tag with wash instructions and size “46”. Attached is a flag tag with writing that is faded. Number “32” is written on the tag in black marker (worn by Trooper Washington during the Pipers inaugural season on 1967-68). During that time, it was not uncommon for several players to use the same warm-up jacket during a season. This jacket is accompanied by a letter from Doc Medich’s son stating this jacket was worn by Connie Hawkins during 1967-68. The fleece warm-up jacket is properly tagged, was presented to us as worn and in our opinion, shows wear. Accompanied by a letter from the family of Alex Medich, trainer of the Pipers.
