1967-68 was the inaugural season of the ABA with George Mikan as the league’s first commissioner. The Championship was a seven game series between the New Orleans Buccaneers and the Pittsburgh Pipers. The Pipers won in seven games, winning the final game at home and this basketball was used during that historic Game 7 Championship, giving the franchise its only title. Original red, white and blue “Rawlings” ABA basketball with “George L. Mikan” facsimile signature and “Commissioner” stamped in black. The ball is in NM overall condition with a slow leak and shows light use. It is accompanied by a letter from the son of former Pipers trainer Alex Medich stating this ball was used during the 1967-68 ABA Championship game. Further accompanied by an original ABA gym travel bag, light blue leather measuring 18” x 9” x 9” with attached combination lock, EX+ with zipper top. “Pittsburgh Pipers” on one side with the official ABA logo on the other.
