Alvin Attles played eleven seasons for the San Francisco Warriors (which were called the Philadelphia Warriors until 1962) beginning in 1960. He was a role player on the 1964 Warriors team (with Wilt Chamberlain) that made the NBA Finals. He also played on the Warriors' 1967 team that lost to Chamberlain's 68-13 Philadelphia 76ers in a closely played six-game final series. Attles later became one of the first African-American coaches in the NBA, when he succeeded George Lee as Warriors head coach in 1970. Attles guided the Rick Barry-led Warriors to the 1975 NBA championship, making him the second African American coach to win an NBA title. His number 16 is retired by the Golden State Warriors. Inside the rear collar is the “Wilson” manufacturer’s tag with wash instructions and jacket size “44”. Attached is a flag tag with writing that is heavily faded and unreadable. Adjacent is a large team repair. On the left chest is “Warriors” embroidered in blue chain stitch as well as a “headdress” embroidered in blue and gold chain stitch. On back is a large “Cable Car” team logo patch done in blue and white chain stitch on white satin. On the left sleeve is player number “16” done in blue satin. The jacket is properly tagged, was presented to us as worn and in our opinion, shows wear.
