Dennis Johnson was the starting point guard for the Boston Celtics with whom he won two more championships. Johnson was voted into five All-Star Teams, one All-NBA First and one Second Team, and nine consecutive All-Defensive First and Second Teams. The Celtics franchise has retired DJ's number “3” jersey, which hangs from the rafters of the TD Garden. On April 5, 2010, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame officially announced that Johnson had been posthumously elected to the Hall. The 1987-88 season was the last that the Celtics wore knit jerseys, switching to mesh during the playoffs. On the left front tail is the “MacGregor Sand-Knit” manufacturer’s tag with size “46”. Above is a second “Sand-Knit” tag with “Designed & Tailored Exclusively for the Boston Celtics”. Adjacent are two strip tags with “87” and “2”LB”. Across the front is “CELTICS”. Player number “3” appears on both the front and back. Player name “JOHNSON” appears on back. All these numbers and letters are done in white tackle twill. On the left chest is the official NBA embroidered logo. The jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion, shows excellent use. Originally sourced from the team, perhaps carried over and worn in the 1988-89 season.
