“The Great One” is the leading point-scorer in NHL history, with more assists than any other player has points, and is the only NHL player to total over 200 points in one season – a feat he accomplished four times. In addition, he tallied over 100 points in 16 professional seasons, 14 of them consecutive. At the time of his retirement in 1999, he held 40 regular-season records, 15 playoff records, and six All-Star records. After his retirement in 1999, he was immediately inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, making him the most recent player to have the waiting period waived. The NHL retired his jersey number 99 league-wide, making him the only player to receive this honor. We were told by Casey Samuelson who authenticated this sweater that this is one of four authentic Gretzky Kings gamers that he has seen. Inside the rear collar is the “Maska Ultrafil” tag with “54” written in black ink. Inside the right rear tail is a black strip tag with “99” embroidered in white stitch. Adjacent is a Velcro strip that Gretzky used to tuck in the right rear tail. On each outer tail is the “CCM” logo. On front is the “LOS ANGELES KINGS” large team crest. Adjacent at the left chest is the Captain’s “C” done in silver on white tackle twill. On each sleeve is player number “99” done in silver on black tackle twill. Player number also appears on back along with player name “GRETZKY” on a black nameplate. All these numbers and letters are done in silver on white tackle twill. The initials of the HHoF curator are handwritten on the inner elbow pad and are referenced on the HHoF LOA. The jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion, shows appropriate use. Accompanied by a LOA from Casey Samuelson as well as a letter from the Hockey Hall of Fame.
