The House of David was a religious commune headquartered in Benton Harbor, Michigan. The commune required its members to refrain from sex, haircuts, shaving, and the eating of meat. The House of David was invited to participate in the prestigious World Professional Basketball Tournament in 1939 and 1940. They served as the opponent for the Harlem Globetrotters during their 1954 tour of Europe and ceased to field a team after that tour. Inside the rear collar is the “Wilson” manufacturer’s tag “SELVY” is written in blue ink. Selvy once scored 100 points in a game at Furman University. Inside the left zipper path is a large satin “Wilson” tag. Adjacent on the opposite side is a gold satin strip tag with “30 Molinas 46 Reg plus 1” embroidered in blue chain stitch. The jacket was worn by both Jack Molinas and Frank Selvy. On the left chest is a large red, white and blue satin shield. “ALL AMERICAN 1954” has been removed with its outline still remaining. On the rear “hood” flap is “HOUSE OF DAVID” done in red on blue tackle twill. The left cuff has been removed and the right has a large tear. The zipper is rusted and not in working condition. Inside the rear waistband of the matching pants is a large satin “Wilson” tag. Adjacent is a gold satin strip tag with “Selvy 33” embroidered in blue chain stitch. There are some holes and staining at the bottom of the left leg. Frank Selvy pieces are impossible to obtain. The warm-up suit is properly tagged, was presented to us as worn and in our opinion, shows tremendous wear. Other than what is mentioned, there appear to be no further alterations of any kind.

Please note that a correction and/or update has been made to this lot and the printed catalog differs from what is online.
