Frank Gifford began his NFL career with the New York Giants by playing both offense and defense, a rarity when platoon football became popular after World War II. He made eight Pro Bowl appearances and had five trips to the NFL Championship Game. Gifford's biggest season may have been 1956, when he won the Most Valuable Player and led the Giants to the NFL title over the Chicago Bears. His number “16” is retired by the NY Giants. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1977. Inside the left pocket are three tags, “Thorp Sporting Goods”, Bur-Mil Galey & Lord” and “Milium”. Below is a white label with “GIFFORD 6-1 198 42” typed. These were Gifford’s actual height and weight. This is the first time we have ever seen such customized tagging. At the left chest is the team interlocking “NY” logo embroidered in white felt. The snaps on front show rust. The jacket is properly tagged, was presented to us as worn and in our opinion, shows good wear.
