This uniform originates from the family of Pittsburgh Pirates coach Lenny Levy. Inside the rear collar is the “MacGregor” manufacturer’s tag with size “46”. Inside the right front tail is a flag tag with “SET 1 1960”. Across the front of the grey flannel vest is “PIRATES”. On back is the coach’s number “45”. All numbers and letters are done in black on yellow felt. On the inner waistband of the matching road pants is the “MacGregor” tag with size “38”. Beneath the rear waistband is a white felt strip tag with “45 38 25” embroidered in red chain stitch indicating the coach’s number, pants size and inseam, respectively. The uniform is properly tagged, was presented to us as coach’s worn and in our opinion, shows wear. As most players of the time were issued two home jerseys and two road jerseys, it was quite possible as a coach that Lenny Levy was only issued one of each, a home and a road uniform. Therefore, it is possible that this was worn by Levy during the 1960 World Series. Accompanied by a Levy family LOA.
