Manuf: H&B. Model Number: “His 5-11-21”. Length: 34.5 in Weight: 32.5 oz Labeling Period: 1923-25 Wood: Ash. Condition: Uncracked. Many ball marks are visible on all sides of the barrel. There are red and green bat rack streaks on the right, back and top barrel. Cleat marks are visible on the left and back barrel. Checking from repeated ball contact is visible on the right and left barrel. This bat pre-dates any model numbers on the knob or barrel, with numbers first appearing in the early 1940’s. A review of the PBOR reveals that between May 11, 1921 and April 28, 1925, Kelly’s model of choice is referred to as “His 5-11-21”, fashioned after a bat returned to H&B by Kelly on May 11, 1921. The bat exhibits evidence of heavy use. Accompanied by a LOA from PSA/DNA grading the bat a GU8.
