In 1960, his first year with the Yankees, Maris was led the league with a .581 slugging percentage and beat out Mickey Mantle for the MVP. On October 1, 1961, Maris entered the final game of the season against the rival Boston Red Sox tied with Babe Ruth at 60 for most homeruns in a single season. In the bottom of the 4th inning, Maris hit a homerun to right field and stepped into baseball immortality — it was the lone run scored in the Yankees 1-0 victory. This stub comes to us from our consignor who personally attended the game at the age of 6. We were told by our consignor that the corporate mezzanine box was owned by the fortune 500 company, Owens-Illinois Glass. The face value was “$215.00” for “Section 14 - Box 90B - Seat 2”. The ticket stub is in MINT condition with bold ink and no discoloration or creasing. The stub is accompanied by an official Yankees program with the scorecard fully filled out in blue ink, Maris’ historic homerun shown as the only run scored in the game, “61” is boldly circled on Maris’ statline for the 4th inning. The program is in EX condition. Also included is an official 1961 Yankee Yearbook, VG condition overall.
