Penguins Alternate Captain Evgeni Malkin scored 50 goals for the first time in his career including three hat tricks during the 2011-12 season, and won his second scoring title with 109 points. He was the only player during the 2011–12 season to score 100 points. Malkin would go on to win the Hart trophy as the league’s MVP and also became the first player in the past ten NHL seasons to win two scoring titles, putting an end to a streak of nine different players over nine seasons leading the NHL in points. We were told by our consignor that this sweater was worn in 9 games during the 2011-12 season during which Malkin has 9 goals and 9 assists including some game winners. Inside the rear collar is the size “56” flag tag. On the inner rear tail is the “Pittsburgh Penguins 2011-12 Game Jersey Third Jersey PP#T21740” label with head equipment manager Dana Heinze’s facsimile signature. At the left chest is the Alternate Captain’s “A”. Player number “71” appears on back and on both sleeves. All these numbers and letters are done in white on light blue tackle twill. Player name “MALKIN” appears across the back in white tackle twill block letters on a blue nameplate. Above is the “Reebok” patch. On front is the team large disc patch. At the tie down neck is the official “NHL” logo shield with the tie down string missing. The fight strap is intact. The jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion, shows light use. Accompanied by a LOA from the Pittsburgh Penguins.
