Pete Maravich’s high school years saw the birth of his famous moniker. From his habit of shooting the ball from his side, as if he were holding a revolver, Maravich became known as "Pistol" Pete Maravich. From there "Pistol" then transferred to Edwards Military Institute where he averaged 33 points per game. This award comes to us directly from the Maravich family. The wooden plaque measures 13-1/4” x 10-3/4” and weighs 2 lbs. It features a lithograph certificate with gold-foil embellishments that has been affixed to the plaque and lacquered over. The certificate reads, “In Recognition of Outstanding Performance - PETE MARAVICH - has been named to PREP ALL-AMERICA BASKETBALL 1965”. It lists his high school, “BROUGHTON Raleigh, North Carolina” and his Coach, “EDWARD C. MCLEAN”. The award is in NRMT condition overall and is accompanied by a family LOA.
