This trophy comes to us directly from the Maravich family. It was presented to “Pistol” Pete Maravich following the 1967-68 NCAA basketball season in which he averaged 43.8 points per game (42.2 FG%, 1,138 total pts.) and was selected as the SEC Player of the Year, the first of three consecutive titles. The trophy stands approximately 23” tall and weighs 15 lbs. It features a regulation size brass basketball atop a two-tier wooden base measuring 15” x 15” x 11”. The base features four brass basketball players, one of which has been replaced and one of the original three has severed at the forearm. A brass plaque on the lower tier of the base of the trophy has been engraved to read, “TO THE BEST SHOOTER IN THE S.E.C. BY VOTE OF THE VARSITY PLAYERS - 1967-68 WINNER - PETE MARAVICH - L.S.U.”. A second, blank brass plaque is present on the upper tier. The trophy is in EX condition and is accompanied by a family LOA. This item will require additional shipping and handling charges due to its weight and size.
