Official “Spalding” manufactured basketball. The basketball has been signed by 17 members of the 1971-72 LSU Tigers men’s basketball team as well as a large signature by Hall of Famer “Pistol” Pete Maravich. Signatures include Coach Press Maravich, Dawn Tonkovich, Bill “Fig” Newton, “Apple” Sanders, Jeff Taylor, Tommy Hess, Steve Chidley, Eddie Young, Collis Temple, Bill “Whit” Whittle, John Schaper, Marty Allman, John Knudson, Carl Siener and Johnny Brantley. All of the signatures are done in black marker and rate an 8 overall. “To Rob - LSU Basketball 1971-72” is written on one panel of the ball. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA for the signatures as well as an additional LOA from LSU’s ball boy, Rob Claitor, that states that the basketball was given to him by the team when he was sick in the hospital during the 1971-72 season.
