The 1954 Milan High School Indians were the Indiana state high school basketball champions in 1954. With an enrollment of only 161, the Indians were the smallest school ever to win a single-class state basketball title in Indiana. The team and town are the inspiration for the 1986 film Hoosiers. We were told by our consignor that these items were worn by Bill Hook who graduated Milan High School in the late 1930’s. Inside the rear tail of the jersey is the “Goldsmith” tag with attached size “34” flag tag. Adjacent is the “Cincinnati Athletic Goods” distributor’s tag. Player number “11” appears on both the front and back in navy tackle twill on yellow felt. The jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion, shows excellent use. Inside the rear collar of the letterman’s pullover sweater is the “Lowe & Campbell” tag with size “36”. On front is the school “M” embroidered in navy and yellow chenille. On the left sleeve is the school “Indian” patch with adjacent chenille stripes. EX overall condition.
