The robe offered here was worn by Tony “TNT” Tubbs in his world championship fight against Mike Tyson for the WBC, WBA, & IBF heavyweight titles. The fight took place on March 21, 1988 at the Tokyo Dome in Japan, a.k.a “The Big Egg”. The white satin robe with red trim was custom-made for Tubbs prior to the fight, no manufacturer’s tags are present. The back of the robe reads “T.N.T. Tony Tubbs” in red chain stitch embroidery. Tubbs has signed the back of the robe “Tony TNT Tubbs” with an added inscription that reads, “My fight worn robe in my 1988 fight vs Iron Mike Tyson at the Big Egg in Tokyo - I went down in two rounds like Don King told me” — and Tubbs did in fact go down in the second round. The signature is done in red marker and rates a 9 overall. The fight robe is accompanied by several photos of Tubbs signing and inscribing the robe as well as a LOA from JSA for the signature.
