These gloves were originally sourced from Roy Jones Jr.’s longtime glove man, Lem Jones. The gloves were worn by Roy Jones Jr. vs. Frankie Liles in a light middleweight box-off for a 1988 Olympic team berth. Jones went on to win a silver medal at the Seoul games in a controversial decision by judges who were later discovered to have been wined and dined by South Korean officials; the judges were bribed into awarding South Korea’s Park Si-Hun the gold medal in a fight he clearly lost. “TUF-WEAR” manufactured red and white leather 10 oz. gloves with original laces. Jones has signed each of the gloves in black marker, the right-hand glove features the added inscription “Pretty boy” and the left-hand glove features the inscription “156 lbs Olympic Silver Medalist”. The signatures rate a 9 overall. “1988 BOX-OFF” has also been written on each glove in blue ballpoint pen. The gloves are properly tagged, were presented to us as fight-worn and in our opinion show appropriate use. The gloves are accompanied by a LOA from Lem Jones as well as photos of him with the gloves. Further accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
