These gloves were worn by Roy Jones Jr. in his August 7, 1997 fight against Montell Griffin. Jones had faced off against Griffin and lost the WBC light heavyweight title after being disqualified for hitting a downed opponent, his first professional loss. The second matchup saw a much more disciplined Jones attacking Griffin from the start. Jones won the fight with a knockout 2:30 into the first round to reclaim the WBC light heavyweight title. “GRANT” manufactured black and red leather 10 oz. gloves. “10” is stamped on the manufacturer’s tag of each glove along with “RJ MG1” and a signature presumably from the referee who inspected the gloves prior to the fight. The gloves are properly tagged, were presented to us as fight-worn and in our opinion show appropriate use. Accompanied by a LOA from Roy Jones Jr.’s former glove man, Ronald Reese, along with his laminated fight credentials from "GRIFFIN/JONES II".
