The boxing trunks offered here were worn by Larry Holmes during the September 21, 1985 heavyweight championship fight fight versus Michael Spinks at the outdoor Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, the first of their two meetings. Spinks won the 15-round bout by unanimous decision in what Ring Magazine referred to as “the upset of the year”. Holmes, whose record was 48-0 coming into the fight, needed just one win to tie Rocky Marciano's all-time undefeated heavyweight record of 49-0. Spinks became the first reigning World Light Heavyweight Champion to defeat the reigning World Heavyweight Champion. White satin “EVERLAST” manufactured boxing trunks with red trim. “EVERLAST” manufacturers tag appears on the front waistband. On the front left leg is the “LARRY HOLMES” disc patch. There is some dark staining on the rear of the trunks. The trunks are in EX condition, they are properly tagged, were presented to us as fight-worn and show appropriate wear. Accompanied by several photomatches from US Presswire, Getty Images (#98021126) as well as the September 30, 1985 cover of Sports Illustrated.
