These items originated from the personal collection of Larry Costello, former player and coach in the NBA for over 25 years. Costello was the first coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, he guided them to an NBA Championship in 1971. Included in this lot is a hand-written letter from Costello’s father, written shortly after he learned of Larry’s decision to retire from playing to start his coaching career. Notebook given to players on the 1969-70 Milwaukee Bucks with Costello’s offensive and defensive concepts, play diagrams and team philosophies. New York State Basketball Hall of Fame plaque, 1996, 15” x 12”, acrylic with gold and black enamel. A collection of 66 black and white photos from Costello’s playing and coaching career. “1966 Comeback Player Award” presented by The Rochester Press, 1.5 lbs., 13” x 8” x 1.5”, wooden/brass plaque. “All-Time Niagara Team 1919-1988” Award, 1.0 lbs., 4-1/2” x 4-1/2” x 7”, wooden base/acrylic pyramid. “Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame Award”, 1998, 5.5 lbs., 12-1/2” x 5-1/2” x 14”, wooden base/crystal. Blue leather “Converse” manufactured suit bag, “Larry Costello” embroidered at the top in white, VG condition.
