The greatest franchise in history of professional sports, and hands-down baseball’s most historic team, the New York Yankees are the quintessence of our nation’s pastime. After nearly a century playing in “the house that Ruth built,” the Bronx Bombers moved headquarters to the new Yankee stadium. In classic Yankee fashion, they won their 27th championship in the inaugural year in the new stadium. This size 10.75, 14k white gold “A” ring weighs 49 grams. It was presented to Julius Matos following the Yankees victory in the 2009 World Series. In 2009, Matos served as the hitting coach for the Tampa Yankees, the Single-A affiliate of the New York Yankees. The top panel features the Yankees’ interlocking “NY” logo and a baseball diamond, emblazoned with over fifty diamonds. The ring also features a blue synthetic stone face along with over sixty additional diamonds adorning the perimeter of the top panel. The 119 diamonds on this spectacular ring give it a total diamond weight of approximately 2.5 carats. The left panel reads “MATOS” in relief above the casted image of the Yankees logo and “TRADITION”. The left panel reads “WORLD CHAMPIONS” above the casted image of Yankee Stadium along with “2009” and “UNITY”. The inside of the ring is stamped “Balfour ©14K” along with the “YANKEE STADIUM 2009 INAUGURAL SEASON” logo. We were told by our consignor that during sizing for the rings, team employees were given the choice of receiving either the staff “B” ring or paying to upgrade to the “A” ring which is identical to the rings that the players received. He chose to pay to upgrade to the players version. The ring comes in its original wooden presentation box that reads “WORLD CHAMPIONS 2009” along with the Yankees’ interlocking “NY” logo on the top. The ring is in MINT condition and is accompanied by a LOA from Julius Matos.
