This baseball was sourced directly from the family of “Bullet Bob” Turley. Turley’s MVP performance was instrumental in the Yankees comeback from a 3-1 deficit in the Series. Only once before in the 55-year history of the World Series had a team come back from such a steep deficit;Turley came up huge with a five-hit shutout in Game 5, striking out 10 batters. He earned a save in Game 6’s 4-3 victory and added another win to his stats the following night in Game 7 to give the franchise their 18th Championship title. This ball was used to record the final out in Game 7 of the 1958 World Series. “Spalding” manufactured ONL Giles baseball shellacked to preserve the hand-written inscriptions. “Beat Milwaukee - 6 to 2” is written on the sweet spot. Adjacent below is an additional inscription, “7th Game - Oct 9th 1958 - World Series”. The inscriptions are boldly written in blue ballpoint pen. The ball features a small hole where it was mounted along the seam north of the sweet spot. Accompanied by a LOA from Bob Turley’s wife, Janet Turley.
