Derek Jeter was drafted by the New York Yankees in the first round of the 1992 amateur draft. He started in the Rookie League before advancing to Class A. In just two seasons in the minors, Jeter was named Most Outstanding Major League Prospect and Best Defensive Shortstop. In 1995, he was called up from Class-A to Class-AAA within the season. This bat dates to 1996, Jeter’s first full season in the bigs; a season which would bring him the Rookie of the Year Award as well as the first of five World Championships. Jeter is one of three current veterans who have come up through the Yankees organization and played their entire professional careers with the Bronx Bombers. Manuf: H&B. Model Number: P72. Length: 33.5 in. Weight 31.5 oz. Labeling Period: 1996. Wood: Ash. Condition: Uncracked. The model number “P72” is stamped into the front barrel. Player number “2” is written on both the knob and the top barrel in silver marker. The barrel brand shows evidence of repainting. Ball/hit marks can be found on the left and back barrel. Jeter has signed the front barrel in silver marker with the added inscription “My Rookie Year! 1996”, rates a 6. The bat exhibits evidence of light to moderate use. The bat comes with a letter from our consignor who Jeter gave the bat to in 1996. Accompanied by a LOA from PSA/DNA. Further accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
