Manuf: H&B Signature Model. Model Number: C32 Bing Miller. Length: 35 in. Weight: 34.9 oz. Labeling Period: 1934-37. Wood: Ash. Condition: Cracked at the handle. The vault mark “C32” is stamped into the knob and the top barrel. The handle was taped in a five ring pattern, the tape has since been removed. The left barrel has been sanded and planed to receive the factory side writing “35oz.Joe.Cronin 5-8-37” in vintage grease pencil. An outstanding feature of the bat is the appearance of factory side writing on the left barrel barring Cronin’s name and return date. From the teens to the early 1940s, when players were in need of bats of the same model, it was commonplace for the player to sand send his preferred model back to the factory to request models of the same type. Upon receipt, an area of the barrel was planed and inscribed with the length and weight, player’s name, date received and team affiliation. The player name and return date is fairly clear and confirms this bat as being returned by Joe Cronin to Louisville Slugger. The bat exhibits evidence of outstanding use. Accompanied by a LOA from PSA/DNA grading the bat an 8.
