This baseball originates from Pirates coach, Lenny Levy. On September 21, 1949, Ralph Kiner hit two home runs for the Pittsburgh Pirates at Forbes Field; season homers 51 and 52. Offered is Kiner’s 52nd home run baseball, a two run shot off of Boston Braves pitcher Bill Voiselle which was hit to deep left, as documented at baseballreference.com. Left field was the location of the bullpen at Forbes Field. Our consignor was informed by Tommy Levy, Lenny’s nephew that his uncle was in the bullpen on September 21, 1949 and retrieved this very baseball after Kiner hit it. This area of the stadium became known as “Kiner’s Korner”. ONL Frick baseball with “Forbes Field Sept 21-49 NO #52” on the sweet spot. Kiner has signed the west panel in black ink, a vintage signature rating a 7. “52” is written on each panel of the ball which shows excellent signs of game-use with dirt spotting and one large hit mark. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA as well as a LOA from Tommy Levy stating how his uncle Lenny got this baseball in the bullpen after it was hit. A documented home run baseball from a Hall of Famer, it doesn’t get much better.
