Elected to the United States Racing Hall of Fame in 1995, Jerry Bailey has a record 15 wins in Breeders’ Cup races. A very rare item, as a winning jockey's helmet is considered sacred and rarely given away by the rider. Bailey is one of the world's best "big-race riders". A near-flawless technical rider known for patient execution of strategy, Bailey has won more than 4,500 races in his career to date. His first Triple Crown ride was in 1982, when he rode in all three races and finished third in the Preakness Stakes aboard Cut Away. Bailey's Triple Crown breakthrough came nine years later, when he won the Preakness and Belmont Stakes with Hansel.“Champion” manufactured jockey helmet. Inside the helmet is a size “7” tag. Includes all original padding. On the back of the helmet reads “BAILEY” embroidered in black stitching. This helmet is properly tagged, was presented to us as race-worn and in our opinion shows appropriate use.
