The 13th recipient of the Victor Award for boxing was presented to Larry Holmes in 1979. This trophy stands approximately 20” tall and weighs 13 pounds. The Victor Award is presented by the National Academy of Sports Editors and Broadcasters to the country’s most outstanding professional and amateur athletes and coaches. The marble-based trophy features a 16-inch brass plated figure with his right arm raised clenching laurelled leaves. The base of the trophy features a brass plate engraved with “THIRTEENTH ANNUAL VICTOR AWARDS - LARRY HOLMES - BOXING - VOTED BY THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SPORTS EDITORS AND BROADCASTERS - PRESENTED BY SPORTSMAN’S CLUB - CITY OF HOPE - 1979”.
