This item is sourced from Wali Muhammad, Muhammad Ali’s assistant trainer. Oversized “EVERLAST” manufactured boxing glove used to promote the World Heavyweight Championship title fight between Larry Holmes and Muhammad Ali on October 2, 1980. The gold leather, left-handed glove weighs 3.5 lbs. and measures approximately 23” x 12” x 8”. The glove has been hand-letter in black paint to read “WORLD - HEAVYWEIGHT - CHAMPIONSHIP - Champion - Larry HOLMES vs. - Challenger - Muhammad - Ali - Caesars Palace”. On the Everlast logo reads “1980 To, Wali Muhammad” in pen. It is signed by Holmes with the added inscription “Heavyweight Champion, Love & Peace” in marker and rates a 4-5. It also says “Winner” in pen near Ali’s name on the glove. The glove is in VG condition and has been photomatched to the press conference for the fight on July 18, 1980 (Getty Images# 158704965) which shows Muhammad Ali holding this very glove. Accompanied with an LOA from Craig Hamilton and an LOA by JSA.
