This medal comes directly from the family of Eddie Futch, one of the greatest trainers in the history of professional boxing. The brass medal measures roughly 2-½” across and weighs 108 grams. The face of the medal features the casted image of Joe Louis and is engraved to read “JOE LOUIS • THE BROWN BOMBER”. “PC/JFL Sc. 73” is engraved along the bottom edge. The verso of the medal features the casted image of Joe Louis standing over a dazed Max Schmeling. It is engraved to read “LOUIS VS. SCHMELING JUNE 22, 1938” and “A VICTORY FOR DEMOCRACY”. The medal is attached to a 30-inch blue, red and yellow ribbon. Accompanied by a copy of a LOA from Eddie Futch’s wife, Eva. The medal is in NRMT condition.
