On February 11th, 1968, Madison Square Garden opened at it’s current location above Pennsylvania Station. Prior to then, Eighth Avenue between 49th and 50th street was the location to the World’s Most Famous Arena. This Varsity jacket was worn on the closing night of the old Madison Square Garden. Inside the back collar is a “GERRY COSBY” manufacturer’s tag with a size “46” tag attached with an “L” written on it in pen. The back reads “ORIGINAL KNICKS” in white tackle twill and “1946-1947” in orange tackle twill which was the inaugural season in the NBA. This jacket is properly tagged, was presented to us as ceremony-worn and in our opinion shows appropriate wear.
