After a storied high school career playing high school hoops at what is now Great Neck North High School in Great Neck, NY (Long Island); Hankinson decided to play his college play only a few hours south at one of the great academic institutions in the United States, the University of Pennsylvania. This proved to be a great move for Hankinson. He enjoyed winning 3 Ivy League Championships and reached the NCAA tournament an unprecedented three times in a row. He was even named the team MVP in 1973. The Boston Celtics decided to grab this 6’8” Power Forward in the 2nd round of the 1973 NBA draft. Unfortunately, his career was cut short to only 2 seasons, appearing in a total of 31 games. He did however earn an NBA championship ring in 1974. On the left front tail is the "Sand-Knit" manufacturer's tag that reads “Designed & Tailored Exclusively For The BOSTON CELTICS". Another “Sand-Knit” tag with jersey size "42" with wash instructions is below. Across the front of the jersey is "CELTICS". Player number “20” appears on the front and back. Across the back is "HANKINSON" All lettering and numbering are done in green tackle twill. The jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent use. Post-draft press conference wire photo included.
