We were told by our consignor that this shirt was acquired in Minneapolis directly from the locker room after a game. The first basketball player in history to have played on a NCAA, Olympic, AAU and an NBA champion team Clyde Lovellette was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1988. In 1952, Lovellette led the nation in scoring and was named Helms Foundation Player of the Year and the NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player to go along with his NCAA championship. Inside the rear collar is a “Rawlings” size “48” manufacturer’s tag. Inside the center tail is a white felt strip tag that reads “Lovellette” embroidered in red stitching. Across the front reads “HAWKS”. Across the back reads “ST. LOUIS”. Both are done in the same red tackle twill sewn directly onto the shooting shirt. This is the only known example of this style. This shooting shirt is properly tagged, was presented to us as player-worn and in our opinion shows appropriate use.
